The Druid Order, including the Chief Druid, holds hands Spring Equinox ceremony at Tower Hill, London

The traditional Spring Equinox ceremony by The Druid Order marks the arrival of Spring and was originally the start of the year. The Druid Order is based in London and was started in 1717 as 'The Druid Circle of the Universal Bond' (although claiming a link to earlier druidic activities from the 11th century and earlier) and was the first 'neo-druidic' society. It celebrates the Spring Equinox at Tower Hill, the Summer Solstice at Stonehenge and the Autumn Equinox at Primrose Hill, London, where on the Autumn Equinox of 1716, John Toland issued the call which led to its foundation.
