Special emphasis is placed upon the effects producedupon tree growth by varying degrees of heat and cold, movement of theair, moisture content of air and soil, altitude and exposure, physical andchemical properties of soils, various insects and larger animals, and dis-eases. The student is taught how these factors influence the size, form,rate of growth, quality of timber produced, and reproduction and distri-bution of our forest-trees.
