Chendebji chorten on the road between the Pele-La pass and Tongsa, Bhutan

This unusual large chorten is situated at the bottom of a wild valley on the road between the Pele-La pass and Tongsa. It was built by a monk named Shida in the first half of the 18th century to appease the valley's powerful guardian spirit. The architectural style closely resembles that of Nepalese chortens.
