The vertical side of the triangle, the side formed by aline drawn from the apex of the triangle to the central (thesternal) end of the base line, is, under normal circumstances,about two inches in length. For the reason already given(see foot-note, page 122) it does not correspond to the mid-lineof the sternum, but to the left border of the bone.
