The German Energy company RWE are building a new 2200 megawatt 'brown coal' power station at Grevenbroich, Neurath region near Cologne, North Rhine Westphalia, Germany. The billion Euro project will take four years to complete and will come online at the end of 2009. The station will replace the older plants in the area and produce 30% less carbon dioxide and produce enough electricity for 10 million users. The coal will be stripped mined from the Garzweiler and Hambach open cast mines.
