And whereas (our struggles for libertyhave beeen successful and their cruel designs frustratd), there isevery reason to fear that these pe(jple Avill endeavor to insinuatethemselves into these states: Therefore, to prevent this slate frombeing a harbor for villains of every denomination, Resolved, unanimously, That we Avill use our utmost endeav-ors to prevent persons of the above description from settlingAvithin the limits of this Battalion. And as there is reason to think that someof the aforesaid persons are harbored amongst us; Therefore, Resolved, unanimously, That we will hereafter inquire intothe chaiacter, and examine every suspicious person that comeswithin our knowledge, and that we will assist each other in appre-hending and securing them, that they may be brought to justice;and that we will unite in the bringing to condign punishment allpersons who aid, abet or harbor any of the said persons. Eesolved, unanimously, 3rd, That we will concur with otherbattalions of this county in instructing our Representatives inAssembly, agreeably to the*above resolutions; and that ColonelIsaac Taylor, Major John Craig, Peter Bell and Captains WilliamWhiteside and Absalom Baird be appointed as a committee to meetcommittees which may be appointed from the other battalions inthi
