A Roman balsamarium, 1st/2nd century AD. Bronze with greenish patina. Container in the form of a bust of a cupid wearing a straw hat. Finely modelled facial features, silver inlaid eyes and nipples. The top of the hat with hinged lid. Side loops with ornamental rosettes. The movable handle terminating in bird's heads. The right loop slightly damaged, small hole at the back of the head. Height without lid 10 cm, with lid cm.
