Bath Abbey is a parish church of the Church of England and former Benedictine monastery in the Roman city of Bath in Somerset, Britain. Bath Abbey is an Abbey with a complex of buildings and the principal church of a group of monks living under the rule of an abbot (or nuns under an abbess). The Gothic built Abbey was founded in the 7th century. It was rebuilt in the 12th and 16th centuries. In the 1860s’ major restoration work was carried out by Victorian Sir George Gilbert Scott who was a Gothic revival architect.
