The nuclei are generally four in number, more rarely they are five. They are of uniform size and lie one behind the other in an axial row. The condition of the chromatin is shown in figure 102 and in figure 103, a to e. In both regards, in the size of its nuclei and the number of its macrochromosomes, Cepedea lanceolata is more like the Protoopalinas than are other Cepedeas.
