WITHDRAWAL OF SOLDIER LABOUR The action of the Government in withdrawingsoldier labour from the land was strongly criticisedat a meeting of the Worcestershire Food Produc-tion Committee. One case was specially cited of a cowman, withsix children, who was a c3 man, wlio had beenworking on the land ever since he had been takeninto the Army, and who was now recalled. The chairman (Mr. Wb°e!er) said men of allcategories were being recalled, and his view wasthat not a 6ingle mail should nave been taken fromthe land so long as 29s. a week was being paid tomen out of the Army and munition works whowere propping up lamp-posts at the street corners.
