Electroplating. Artwork showing an inspection of a worker's skill in the technique of electroplating. The electroplated object is being examined and the worker is being reprimanded for the poor quality of the plating. Electroplating involves using an electric current to deposit a metal on an object that is used an an electrode in an electrolysis circuit. Early applications of this technique included gold, silver, copper, nickel, brass, tin, and zinc. Electroplating can be decorative (cutlery and jewellery), or applied on an industrial scale.
