Above 3,500 feet one finds dense evergreen jungle, in placesmuch damaged by the hill-cultivation of the Yao. While passingthrough an area of hill-forest, we encountered a hamadryad, whichwas shot. Lying on the ground, the snake measured 67 inches, andwhen held up by the tail it was 5 or 6 inches longer. It is known toreach a length of 15 feet. 5 inches.
