The ruins of the Norman church at Knowlton seen from beside the neolithic earthworks, near Blandford Forum, Dorset, England
The ruins of Knowlton church sit within a Neolithic henge built around 2500BC. The henge consists of a ring bank with two entrances and an inner ditch, and was probably built for ceremonial use. Whilst the church dates from the Norman period it was re-modelled in the 14th Century. Cowslips and dandilions can be found growing amongst the grassy earthworks.
