He enlisted Oct. 8,1917, and attended the Ground School; Ground Schoolat Princeton, ; School at Dallas, Tex.; and received flyingtraining at Scott Field, Belleville, 111., April to June, 1918. OnJuly 3, 1918, he was commissioned 2d Lieut., Air Service (Aero-nautics). From July to Nov. he took the Gossport InstructorCourse, and acted as Instructor. He was transferred to LangleyField, Hampton, Va., on Nov. 5; he completed his Army CorpsPilots course on Dec. 1, and was honorably discharged on , 1918, at Langley Field.
