A glacier at Alkefjellet in northern Svalbard. At the side of the glacier is an unconformity where basalt rock has intruded as a sill between layers of limestone. All of Svalbards glaciers are retreating, even in the north of the archiapelago despite only being around 600 miles from the North Pole.
