In1815 he was elected to the presidency of Transyl-vania university, Lexington, Ky., but he declinedthis call, as well as a similar one to Georgetowncollege. Ky. Mr. Rice was a preacher of greatpower. He left no published works, but few menhave exerted upon the Baptist denomination awider and more lasting influence. RICE.
