Dissection.—Cut & the amygdala on one side, or slice off the digastricand slender lobes until the amygdala can be turned out; this will expose the fur-rowed band, the posterior medullary velum and the fossa, kno•\^?n as the swal-lows nest {nidus hirundinis), which is indented by the posterior medullary velum,the nodule, and the uvula.
