Centenary steam locomotive This is London Brighton & South Coast Railway Class E4 0-6-2T 473, "Birch Grove" getting a polish ready for its 100th birthday. It is a preserved and restored steam engine on the Bluebell Line in Sheffield Park, Sussex. It's a Southern Railways tank engine named after the nearby house Birch Grove, former home of Harold Macmillan who was Prime Minister from 1957 to 1963. 16 June 1998 Picture by Roger Bamber
