Venusian volcanoes. Radar map of Sapas Mons and Maat Mons, large volcanoes on the planet Venus. The summit of Sapas Mons is the bright feature in the foreground. This volcano is about 400 kilometres wide and rises kilometres above the surrounding terrain. In the distance is Maat Mons, the largest Venusian shield volcano. This image was created using data gathered by the Magellan radar-mapping spacecraft.
