In the centre is Apollo Mousagetes, the Sun God, patron of the arts and the leader of the Muses, with his attributes of a lyre, a crown on the head and a laurel wreath in his hand. Seated to his right is Mnemosyne, the mother of the Muses and the goddess of memory, as well as Clio, the Muse of history, Thalia, the Muse of comedy, and the dancing Erato and Terpsichore. To his left is Calliope
