Tetraselmis ascus (Gr. tetras, from tessares, four & Gr. selmis, angler's nose) green algae, gathered together in a small water droplet. The motile cells lost their flagella during preparation for high magnification. Some cells show the red eyespots. Culture material of the Culture Collection of Algae at the University of Cologne. Microscopic contrast technique : Differential interference contrast. Magnification 900x when printed 10 centimetres wide.
