Short-term nuclear waste. Worker and a crane at a nuclear waste storage centre. This centre is for short-term low-level and medium-level nuclear waste that will be safe to dispose of in less than 300 years. This includes equipment made radioactive by close proximity to nuclear reactions, as well as the short-lived nuclear fission products. This centre is operated by ANDRA, the French national agency for the control of radioactive waste. The centre is located at Soulaisnes, near Aube, France. Photographed in 2004
