January 6th, 2017 After tending to a few things I ran over to Pleasant Valley Conservancy just to take this photo. It's really cold outside with a subzero arctic high pressure system parked over the Midwest. I wanted to take a shot outside but only as long I didn't have to be outside too long. This is an Oak Savanna, which is a very rare ecosystem, and that's on a global scale too. It holds an internationally recognized class of G1 because of it's extreme rarity and threat of completely being wiped from the Earth. This patch of land has been meticulously tended. As per their website, the land, "has been extensively restored to its original character. It works to educate the conservation community and the general public on the values of nature and wildlife. Its principal focus is on the preservation of its restored habitats, especially the plant communities."
