A South German basket-hilted sword circa 1580. Straight single-edged blade with flat fuller, struck on both sides with a wolf mark and several crown marks, several smith´s marks on the ricasso. Blackened iron basket hilt with symmetrical guard plate pierced with trefoils. Extended quillons recurved in the opposite direction, with chiselled terminals. Pommel chiselled en suite. Grip with leather cover of later date.
