Costumes of the Fourteenth Century - Victorian vintage colour illustration
This scene from foppish fashionistas of the fourteenth century was drawn (or redrawn from original sources) for a Victorian book of English history, and shows some upper-class people or nobility and accompanying servants as the nobles are, we presume, about to set out on horseback or in a carriage. It seems that the couple are not dressed suitably for travel, though, so perhaps they are greeting a man who has just arrived. Note especially the man's long long dangly sleeves, utterly useless for any practical work like doing the dishes or keywording stock images, and also the shoes of the man at extreme riight which are so long and pointy that the ends are tied to his knees so he can actually walk.
