Coille na Borgie Neolithic chambered tombs, Sutherland, Scotland, UK: view N of two horned long cairns on a moorland terrace above the River Navar.

Coille na Borgie Neolithic chambered tombs, Sutherland, Scotland, UK: view N of two horned long cairns on a moorland terrace above the River Navar. Shows part of the exposed burial chamber & passage, horned forecourt & two upright stones of a post-and-panel facade at the N end of the S cairn with the N cairn beyond. Both cairns are aligned N-S & have horns at each end. They are 10m apart, the larger S cairn is 72m long. The N cairn has a polygonal chamber at its N end. The S cairn has a Camster-type burial chamber divided into three compartments by pairs of projecting side slabs. The chamber is aligned NNE-SSW, not N-S as is the cairn, & its entrance passage opens E of centre of the facade; it may have been built in a small round cairn which was later incorporated into the horned long cairn as at Camster Long, Caithness. The N cairn is bisected by a cart track, leading some to consider it as two separate cairns.
