British cemetery in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria in The Canary islands

The British cemetery in Las Palmas on Gran Canaria was constructed in the nineteenth century (1830s) by the large British community who lived and worked in the city. At that time, Protestants couldn't be buried alongside catholics, hence the need for their own cemetery. The cemetery was constructed on the outskirts of the city on open ground. Slowly the city expanded and the cemetery is now surrounded by houses and apartments.
