This condition of affairs continueduntil 1773. The British East India Company, one of the greatest cor-porations of those days, had sustained many losses, partlyowing to the action of the Americans. It was said to havehad several milHon pounds of tea in its English change in the law provided that the company could ex-port its tea to the colonies free of any duty in England. ^ The actual title is Letters from a Farmer in Pennsylvania to the inhabi-tants of the British Colonies.
