Young Males have the elongated throat-feathers as in the adultfe7JiaIe, and the middle of the throat is suffused with dull brick-red. As the short, rounded, brick-red feathers of the adult aremoulted, the elongated feathers disappear. * There is a fine adult male of the typical Cape form in the NationalCollection said to have come from the Mauritius, but the locality ma^ be amistake.
