Dai Watersplashing Festival in Yongping County, Yunnan Province, China

The main religious festival of the Dai ethnic minority is the Dai New Year, traditionally celebrated by washing the images of Lord Buddha. This is now commonly celebrated as the Watersplashing Festival or in Chinese Poshuijie. This festival takes place annually around 13. April, but certain groups celebrate a bit earlier or later.
