He was re-elect-ed to that office in 1912, and for athird term in 1917. As Register ofDeeds, he has charge of all papers,deeds and records relating to realestate in the district which comprisesLawrence, Methuen. Andover andNorth Andover. His legal trainingespecially adapts him for this re-sponsible duty. By virtue of his officeas Register of Deeds he is also assist-ant recorder of the I^and Court forthis district. He was educat-ed in the public schools. Upon leav-ing school he went to work in themills. He started his career in theplumbng Imsiness as a clerk withW. F. Rutter & Company. In thatline of activity he advanced he is regarded as one of themost prominent men in the l)usinessin this section of the country. Hewas admitted to the Rutter firm in1891, the firm then comprising WilliamF. Rutter, Sr., William F. Rutter, Jr.,and James H. Bride. Upon thedeath of Mr. Rutter, a few yearslater, E.
