A flock of starlings flies around Aberystwyth pier at dusk at the end of a day of warm sunshine in west temperature at Trawscoed weather station, a few miles inland of the town, reached degrees centigrade, () breaking the UK’s long-standing November temperature record. Temperature inland of the town reached 23 degrees centigrade, reportedly making the area the warmest place in Europe today Each evening between October and March tens of thousands of the birds fly in huge murmurations in the sky above the town before settling to roost for the night on the cast iron legs of the Victorian seaside pier.
