Thus the T. macintoshi material confirms the synonymy of T. parvidens, T. trilobatus and T. bicos- tatus postulated initially by Gross (1967). The most interesting discovery in this re-examination of Stetson's type material is the presence of at least one specimen of a loganiid. The paratype of T. macintoshi (MCZ 2036) is not a thelodontidid, but a specimen of Loganella sp. cf L. ludlowiensis (Gross 1967) or perhaps cf L. martinssoni (Gross 1967). [The genus name Logania formerly attributed to this and other loganiid species is preoccupied {Logania Distant—Lepidoptera; Whitley 1976). Here I propose to use the replacement name Loganella.] The figures in Stetson's paper depicting scales with rim spines actually represent sagittal sections through Loganella scales (see Fig. 3). The scales in the nodule are sometimes broken through, exposing the slit-like pulp canal and.
