The roofhas also been considerably extended and the cab sidesfitted with large windows, a further innovation beingthe provision of tip-up seats for the enginemen. The engine is fitted with a copper top to the chim-ney, and brass safety valve cover. The cab andsplasher headings are also in brass and the hand railsare now polished. This is the first engine to be turnedout since the War with lining, as in pre-wardays, and all engines of the 2900 and 4000 class will infuture be lined as they pass through the shops.
