An officer's sword, German/Dutch, circa 1670. Double-edged blade ridged on both sides and with etchings of figures, birds, and Latin inscriptions on the upper third. Forged iron knucklebow hilt, the guard plates are chiselled with imperial portraits and eagles. There are more eagles on the pommel and knucklebow. The quillons have dog heads finials. The wooden grip has diamond checkering with a fine (incomplete) copper wire grip wrapping.
