Late 19th Century, distant view of Castle Cornet aka Castle Rock, first fortified 1206 to 1256, but with the advent of cannon and gunpowder, the castle was remodelled between 1545 and 1548. Apart from it's role in many conflicts, the castle was used as a prison from earliest times up until the end of World War II. It is located in St Peter-Port, capital of Guernsey, an island in the Channel Islands Crown dependencies group located in the English Channel off the coast of Normandy.
