A German gothic mace,circa 1480 Six-sided striking head with broadly tapering flanges bearing trefoil perforations and brass inlays on the narrow sides(base rosette missing on the spike). Massive hexagonal handle,offset in the middle with a brass-plated guard plate mounted on a tapered,forged hollow handle with a decoratively cut base,geometrically carved walnut grip,and a brass plated pommel plate.
