SYNDAOTYLIA. 375 Kaspar L—, set. 17, was severely burned about tbe rigbt wrist when twoyeare of age; the wound, whicb. was deep and extensive, took two montbs tocicatrise. As tbe contraction of tbe cicatrix was strongest on tbe dorsum ofthe wrist-joint tbe band became strongly abducted and bent over to tbeulnar side. (Sec Fig. 18 a.) The patient, whose health was good, wasseriously inconvenienced in bis work through this deformity, so that it becamehighly important to correct it if possible. It appeared that the ulna, pressedupon by tbe cicatrix, had not kept pace in growth with tbe radius ; tbe latterbone was markedly curved; flexion and extension at tbe wrist-joint werenormal; adduction and abduction somewhat interfered with, while scarcelyany pro- and supination was permitted.
