Marines from Company G, 2nd Battalion, 1st Marines, discovered and captured these 123mm rockets in May 1970, 6 miles south-southeast of Da Rang. The rockets were part of an original group of 22. From the back blast craters, it was determined that they were the ones that hit east-northeast of Da Nang airbase. A team of 50 Marines were sent to disarm the remaining rockets, believed to be aimed between 24th Corps Headquarters and China Beach.
