Mass moult of fossilised Eurypterids. Eurypterids are the largest known Arthropods that have ever lived, they are also known as Sea Scorpions and are extinct. They were powerful predators that lived in warm, shallow marine and freshwater environments. They ranged from the Ordovician Period to the Permian Period which is about 460 to 248 million years specimen shows the moulted exoskeletons of Balteurypterus remiceps tetragonopthalmus (Fischer). The age of the grey mudstone is Silurian (443-419 million years ago) Wenlock Series, and the locality where it was found is the River Smotrych, Bolshoe Zales'c Village, Kamienec, Podolski, Khmelnitsaya Region, Ukraine
