Regents Bridge in Edinburgh where building commenced in 1815 and opened on 18th August 1819 by His Royal Highness Prince Leopold of Saxe Cobourg. The bridge was constructed as it was difficult to access the city from the South and this bridge, from Calton Hill to Princes Street over a deep ravine called Low Calton, eased access. [The architect was Archibald Elliot and the Provost at the time was Sir John Marjoribanks of Lees, MP
