A Baldwin built Fireless 0-4-0 of 1917 vintage working at the Bolivia Sugar Mill in Cuba's Camaguey Province on Thursday 21 April 1988. The mill's chimneys are visible in the background. This locomotive takes its steam from the boilers of the mill and one charge enables the engine to shunt around the yard until a recharge is needed. Fireless engine are efficient and economical and invaluable for working in those industries where sparks from a conventional engine would wreak havoc such as munitions factories or paper mills.
