Matthew Wallace, a Mason, Tennessee, native and a mortarman with 2d Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion (LAR), 2d Marine Division, evaluates Marines during a Marine Corps Combat Readiness Evaluation (MCCRE) on Fort Pickett, Virginia, Aug. 8, 2022. “The importance of me being at this MCCRE is to supervise safety and evaluate the combat readiness of the 81mm mortar section for Alpha Company,” said MCCRE evaluates the combat readiness of 2d LAR in preparation for their future deployment with the 26th Marine Expeditionary Unit.
