It is also diffused throughout the Missi>.siii])i \'alley, and ajijjears in the streams of the Cavolinas anil (Georgia east of the mountains. Its preference is for (luii't. < kar waters, with a bottom co\ered with grass ; and in the mudib. sloughs and lia\'ous. where the C'rappie is abundant, it is rarely seen. it is an excellent ]ian-fish. reaching some- times a weight of two or tluee ];ls. although usually weighing not more than a pound.
