Wreckage from an old airplane crash on Solheimasandur black sand beach, South Coast Iceland. Nov. 24, 1973 - US Navy airplane, Douglas Super DC-3 ran out of fuel and was forced to crash land on the black beach at Solheimasandur, South Coast, Iceland. Everyone in that plane survived, however, the plane was abandoned rather than recovered and the remains are still on the sand close to the sea.
