Branxton Church, Northumberland, England, UK, looking NE over Flodden Field where the English defeated the Scots on 9 September 1513. The Earl of Surrey set up position on this ridge & went on to beat the Scots led by King James IV who was killed; his body was temporarily placed in St Paul's Church below Branxton Ridge. Flodden was the 'last and most bloody battle fought in Northumberland.' There is a monument to the battle on Piper's Hill/Branxton Ridge.
