Thousands of Palestinians demonstrated at several locations along the heavily fortified frontier with Israel for the weekly "Great March of Return" protests. Some Palestinians hurled rocks towards the security fence and Israeli troops and according to the Israeli army some threw explosive devices. The Israeli army fired live ammunition and tear gas canisters at protesters. Palestinians in Gaza have been staging demonstrations along the border with Israel Since March 2018, calling on Israel to end its blockade of the enclave. According to the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA) 254 Palestinians in Gaza have been killed in Gaza in clashes with Israeli troops since the protests started nearly a year ago
