Rev. Pierz did not return until theyear after (1838), and then only for afew weeks. Following the order of thebishop, he again settled at La Croix, fromwhere he visited, from time to time, atregular intervals, however, the Sault andother missions on the Lakes until 1845—July 1st being his last baptismal entry—when he was superseded by the JesuitFathers.
