Tadelech Bekele competing in the 2018 London Marathon, , Tadelech went on to finish 3rd, in a time of 02:21:40

Since earning four half-marathon podiums in her debut international season in 2011, her career has gone from strength to strength. The following season she secured two half-marathon victories – in Ceske Budejovice and Dali – before she continuing to slowly build on her increasingly impressive record in 2013. During a busy campaign, Tadelech recorded three half-marathon wins in six races, including a new lifetime best of 68:38 in Valencia, and also smashed her 10km best with a swift 30:38 in Berlin. She returned to the German capital the next year where she made a hugely encouraging marathon debut, clocking 2:23:02 for fourth. Buoyed by her maiden marathon outing the following year she chipped 11 seconds from that time for seventh in the Dubai Marathon before matching her finishing position from 12 months earlier in Berlin, this time registering 2:25:01. Continuing to progress, the 26-year-old has enjoyed her finest season to date in 2017 setting two marathon PBs with a 2:22:23 performance for third in Prague followed by her maiden marathon victory in Amsterdam in an eye-catching 2:21:54.
