An etched cabasset morion, Nuremberg, circa 1600, with later etching. The one-piece forged skull has a high comb with a roped edge, an iron plume socket at the back, and surrounding lining rivets with remnants of decorative brass rosettes. The brim rises to a point with turned under and corded edges. The entire surface is richly decorated with etching from the historism period. The comb shows a fighting cavalryman, the brim is ornamented with vines. St. George and St. Martin are displayed on the skull. There is a Nuremberg proof mark stamped on the brim. Height,
